Cloudflare Unveils Agentic Cloud at Agents Week 2026: Infrastructure for the Age of Autonomous AI

Breaking: Cloudflare Launches Agentic Cloud Platform

Cloudflare today concluded its first Agents Week, unveiling a suite of infrastructure products purpose-built for AI agents. The company is positioning this as 'Cloud 2.0' — a cloud designed for the era where autonomous agents are the primary workload, not human users.

'The scale of agents is staggering,' said Dane Knecht, CTO of Cloudflare. 'If even a fraction of knowledge workers each run a few agents in parallel, you need compute capacity for tens of millions of simultaneous sessions. The old one-app-serves-many model breaks.'

Compute: Sandboxes and Artifacts Lead the Lineup

Central to the announcement are two new compute products: Sandboxes and Artifacts. Sandboxes provide AI agents with persistent, isolated environments — a real computer with shell, filesystem, and background processes. Artifacts offer Git-compatible versioned storage, allowing agents to create millions of repos and fork from any remote.

'Agents need somewhere to run and store the code they write,' said Rita Kozlov, VP of Product. 'Some need a full OS; most need lightweight environments that start in milliseconds and scale to millions.'

Background: The Rise of Agents

Over the past year, AI agents have shifted from experimental to essential. Coding agents help developers ship faster, support agents resolve tickets end-to-end, and research agents validate hypotheses across hundreds of sources in minutes. Organizations now run multiple agents in parallel, around the clock.

Cloudflare's Workers platform, launched eight years ago as a containerless, serverless compute solution, has evolved into a full platform. This week's announcements represent 'the next wave of primitives purpose-built for agents,' according to the company.

What This Means: A New Cloud for a New Workload

The agentic cloud addresses a fundamental mismatch: today's cloud was built for a model where one app serves many users. Agents need compute that scales from full OS to lightweight isolates, with security and identity built in. They also need an agent toolbox — models, tools, and context — plus a clear path from prototype to production.

As agents generate a growing share of internet traffic, the web itself must adapt. Cloudflare's platform is designed to handle millions of simultaneous agent sessions, enabling developers to build, deploy, and run agents at scale.

Additional Announcements

Throughout Agents Week, Cloudflare also shipped updates to its AI inference, object storage, and security services — all optimized for agent workloads. Full details are available on Cloudflare's blog.

'We are here to create the agentic cloud,' the company stated. 'Infrastructure designed for a world where agents are a primary workload.'
